New List of Book Recommendations- Levels T–Z


Over the summer, some of the people who work in our Center for Reading Recovery and Literacy Collaborative to level books came up with a new list of books that they would recommend for Levels T–Z (upper intermediate, middle/high school). If you are looking to increase your classroom library, this list might be a good starting point!

  1. Thank you for the hearty list of books! I teach fifth grade. Is the content appropriate for ten year olds? I am always concerned about the level of maturity.


    • Thanks for your question Amy! Whether the books are appropriate for ten year olds or not is definitely a decision that each teacher needs to make on their own depending on the maturity level of their students and the topic of the book. We highly suggest that teachers read the books before deciding which are best for their grade level. The book list did state that it was for upper intermediate levels as well as middle/high school so there may be some titles on the list that are more appropriate for the higher grades vs. intermediate grades. We hope that helps!
